
Sales is stated to be the most lucrative of all occupations. Indeed, a company’s top salesperson often earns more than the CEO themselves. When we think of a top salesperson, we think of the designer suit, flash car, big residential home and holidays abroad. It seems like they are dripping in cash and have not a care in the world. It is everybody’s envy to be like them and be able to enjoy the same statys and success that they have and of course the money!
Sales is an art – top sellers are born to sell, they have a natural ability. Therefore, this glamorous lifestyle is reserved for the lucky few and unfortunately the rest of us can only spectate in envy.
Of course there are always people in every job or sport that have natural ability, but that does not mean that the same skills cannot be studied, learnt and practised. There are many people that have enjoyed success in sales who did not have a natural ability at all. As somebody with a lot of experience in selling real estate, and without a natural golden touch, I offer the viewpoint that sales is not as easy and glamorous as its portrayed. Just like any job, you need to study your market, know your product, and tackle the battles against stress and pressure. Sales come in waves and you need to be able to keep fighting on, performing with full confidence even when you are suffering from a low period.
Sales is a science – as said, sales is no different from any other topic. If you study the most successful in the field, you will find similar patterns and strategies. If you adopt the right mindset, focus your efforts to learn and model these then you will improve your own ability, and with consistent application, success will start to follow. The sooner that you start this process, the sooner your sales achievements will rise and the money of your labour will start rolling in.
