On Line Coaching

In the old days of coaching, you would not only have to try to find a coach that you thought was capable and compatible, but also one that was easily accessible, as to be able to fit in the travelling time and expense. In fact, in my early days as a therapist, I would offer to travel to people’s work or home to conduct sessions to gain a competitive edge on my competitors. As life coaching developed, some coaches started to offer telephone coaching to be able to spread their reach. I did not follow this strategy as I strongly believe in a visual connection for the best results in a coaching relationship.

Nowadays, thanks to the amazing creation of the internet, clients are no longer confined to receive coaching from a local source. Now you literally have the world as your oyster in which to search and choose for a coach that you want to help you. Increasingly clients are choosing coaching to take place via video calls, instead of on-site face to face or via the telephone. This is for several reasons:

  • Still have the important element of face to face connection.
  • Cuts out the time and expense of commuting to and from appointments.
  • Increasing flexibility of when and where you can conduct your sessions.
  • Reduced risk of having to cancel sessions – saving money and keeping you firmly on track.
  • Increased privacy and confidentiality of coaching.

All that is required for online video coaching is an internet connection, a device equipped with a camera: PC or laptop computer, mobile tablet or phone, and a quiet room.

You can then use your preferred video application:

Skype – is a wonderful, free-to-download function that allows you to have free video conversations over the Internet with anyone in the world from any type of device. Downloading the function could not be easier. Simply Click Here and then follow the on-line instructions. All Skype conversations are completely private and confidential, and are not recorded.

WhatsApp – is a free messaging app available for Android and other smartphones, using your phone’s Internet connection (5G/4G/3G/EDGE or Wi-Fi, as available) allowing you to call another user for free with WhatsApp Calling, even if they’re in another country. To download Click Here.

Facebook Messenger – a free messaging app available for Android and other smartphones, using your phone’s Internet connection (5G/4G/3G/EDGE or Wi-Fi, as available) allowing you to call another user for free with Facebook Messenger Calling, even if they’re in another country. To get the App either search in Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Most coaches now offer a free introductory session.

This serves two main purposes:

  • For you the client it allows you the opportunity to meet your prospective coach, ask questions and to get the feel of how a full online based coaching session will be.
  • For the coach it allows him/her the opportunity to meet the perspective client, hear about their issues and decide if there is scope for them to be able to offer the client the help that they need.
